Baseball Organizations Team Up to Enhance Multi-Field Complex and Make Site Available for Tournaments

January 15, 2019 — Pittsburgh, PA

Pittsburgh-based Three Rivers Baseball is teaming up with the Sto-Ken-Rox (SKR) Baseball Organization to upgrade and enhance the Sto-Ken-Rox baseball facility which is located in Kennedy Township, PA. Three Rivers Baseball will host weekend baseball tournaments from April through October at the complex.

The fields, which will be available for teams in the tristate area and beyond to participate in weekend tournaments, will feature:

  • Kentucky Bluegrass natural playing surface
  • Clay infields
  • Two umpires for every game at the 10u level and above
  • Full-time grounds crew
  • Custom-fitted tarps to protect the fields from inclement weather
  • Upgraded restrooms, batting cages, dugouts and refreshment facilities

One of the greatest benefits of the facility is the location. The baseball complex is located within minutes of major interstates and highways as well as the Pittsburgh International Airport. For the teams' added convenience, many hotels, restaurants and shopping areas are close by. Due to the proximity to downtown Pittsburgh, teams can also enjoy the area's many attractions following play ranging from Pirate games at PNC Park to riverboat cruises on the Gateway Clipper.

"We want to give teams a major league experience," explained Bob Janeda, co-owner of Three Rivers Baseball. "I can't be more excited about the new facilities. I played my entire youth career in this facility, including high school baseball. For many years, the facility lacked care and required many upgrades to make it tournament ready. Joe Palahunik and the SKR board along with my partner, Glenn Vietmeier, and I worked very hard to make this happen."
